Feelings
Often, we try to push away difficult feelings and over time this creates resistance and further suffering.
Meditation Teacher Tara Brach created RAIN: an easy to remember tool to help you build a relationship with your feelings which you can practice anywhere.

RAIN

  • R - Recognise:

Ask yourself, "What is happening inside me right now?" (label the feeling or sensation)

  • A - Allow:

Let the feeling be there without trying to fix or change it. Say silently, "It's okay, let me feel this"

  • I - Investigate

Notice where the feeling lives in your body. Is it a tightness, a hollowness, heat?

  • N - Nurture

What does this part of me need right now? A kind word, a deep breath, a hand on your heart?

RAIN: a practice of radical compassion

In therapy we can explore difficult feelings with mindful compassion, by bringing awareness to present moment experiences, and how they show up, you will find that a greater number of responses become available to you.
